Got to jet

Hey guys.  I need to make this quick.  The Vikings and Packers are on in about 1 minute!

So last night when I got dressed I really wasn’t pulling a very good Julia Child.  So, I changed my costume to be called ‘a modern grandma/chef’.  Yea, I was definitely not completely digging my costume.  At least I dressed up!

Mike was a Twinkie with an identity crisis.  He’s had his Twinkie costume for a few years now and wanted to spice it up.  What a hottie ;). Haha.  Yes, he does have lipstick all over his face too.

301

Oh my god.  We look ridiculous.   My boyfriend is such a freespirit.  I love it.

Last night was a total blast.  It’s always a fun night when we hang out with Jodi and Luke.

This morning I woke up feeling great actually.  I was pacing myself nicely last night, which paid off this morning.  I had a very strong urge to run.  I was going to take the day off, but hey, if you have the urge and you feel up to it, why not?  I ran 10 miles in 1 hour and 35 minutes.

It was one of those runs where it wasn’t hard to keep going, but that the time just seemed like it was going by at a snail’s pace.  I made it though!

Pre-run I had a peanut butter banana Arnold’s Thin.

Never let’s me down.  Post run, a pumpkin bagel with rosemary ham, cheddar cheese, spinach, mayo and mustard. Sounds like an odd combo, but it was so good! I am still talking about how good it is with Mike.  I think he is getting sick of hearing about it. 🙂

I have been eating Halloween candy all day too.  The mini-packs are way too addicting.

I am starving already, so I’m off to make a snack and watch the game.

But first… surprise one from yesterday.

A Barney Butter t-shirt!!!!

I am totally wearing it around the house right now.  I am such a dork.  I will spare you my lovely Sunday look though.

Surprise #2, which you should all be interested in…

Is hidden in a box.  You’ll have to come back tonight for details.  Muahaha. 😉

Later gators!

Eatz, West Hollywood

Hello, my fellow bloggies.

I just wanted to check in before we head out to our cooking class tonight. We are headed to Eatz up in West Hollywood.

How adorable it this place?

From the Eatz website:

EATZ offers extremely personal cooking classes in a fun dinner party environment. Our small class size enables us to teach in a totally hands-on fashion — which means you get to cook (and eat!) each and every item.

And, to prove to us all, it is never too late for a career change.  The owner’s bio… (also, courtesy of the Eatz website)

NIKI TEHRANCHI

After practicing law for a few years, Niki decided to follow her passion for cooking and went to culinary school. She received her culinary training at Kitchen Academy in West Hollywood (now called California School of Culinary Arts Hollywood), and loved every minute of it! She’s had a major love for cooking since she was a kid, and remembers cooking crepes for her family and reading cookbooks as a child. She loves to cook, entertain, and teach…and her mission was to combine all three with the opening of her business. She started EATZ with the goal of giving each student a truly
hands-on cooking experience. Not only does she want everyone to cook as much as possible during class, she also wants to bring the joy of cooking to the classroom by encouraging her students to experiment and have fun with the cooking process. Come meet her at EATZ and awaken your inner chef!

How freakin cool does Niki seem?  I can’t wait to meet her . What an inspiration to us all!  And especially since she went TO cooking :).

Tonight, we are attending An Italian Affair with Mike, my brother and his friends.

Here is the menu we will be cooking up:

Join us for a fun night of cooking and feasting, Italian style! These dishes are not only classic and timeless, they’re absolutely delicious.  Buon appetito!

– Rosemary Focaccia Bread from Scratch (drool!)
– Mussels in a Saffron and White Wine Broth
– Stuffed Artichokes with Sweet Soppressata and Provolone
– Wild Mushroom and Red Wine Risotto
– Strawberries and Cointreau Tiramisu
– Wine: Sangiovese (heck yes!)

I will do a full recap of our experience at Eatz, most likely Monday night when we are back in the tundra.

After our class, we are headed out in West Hollywood.  SO EXCITED!!!

Peace and love.

Have you ever been to a cooking class before?  I have been to the Cooks of Crocus Hill back in Minneapolis.  We went to a ‘simple sauces’ class that we quite delicious.  However, it wasn’t a hands on class which kind of stunk.

Farmville

Hello.  I’ve made it to ‘Friday’!  Whew.  What a week.

Instead of waking up at 5:45 to head to the gym this morning I SLEPT IN!  And it felt oh soooo good.  Sometimes I need to force myself to relax and no put myself into overdrive.

So the title of my post… Farmville.  Have you heard of it?

020909121934gameBig_farmville

It is a new game on Facebook and I am ADDICTED.  I kind of am over the whole Facebook thing and rarely go on to check what is happenin’ anymore.  However, my brother and his friends sucked me in to ‘trying’ it and now here is what I have ‘planted’, lol.

  • Cherry tree
  • Peach tree
  • Corn
  • Wheat Soybeans

And I have the following animals.

  • Rabbit
  • Horse
  • Cow

I killed my first batch of strawberries though.  They withered away. 😦

Anyway, just a random funny story I thought I would share.  Yep, I am that cool.

Moving on!

This is great timing to get out-of-town.  Now I won’t be sitting and thinking about Petrie leaving.  No sulking for this girl.  I am off to Cali this evening!

Since I won’t get to have ‘scone Friday’, I thought what the heck, how about scone WEDNESDAY??

Here are last weeks photos.  And yes, I did switch it up flavor wise.  By the time I got there they only had raspberry lemon scones left.  But boy oh boy was this flavor every tasty!  Sweet and yet tart at the same time.  Winner in my book.

001

It is okay to keep gawking.  It does look divine :).

002

One more…

003

We’ll have to wait and see what flavor this week brings.

Since I was extra extra lazy and unmotivated super busy last night (I really was, just lazy on top of it!) I didn’t even begin to think or worry about packing my lunch for today.  Which is probably a good thing… there isn’t anything too appetizing in my fridge at the time being.  I am thinking it may be a Subway day.

I don’t know if I will be able to check in at lunch or not.  If not, I probably will catch you on the flip side… aka…

Have you ever been to Southern California?

Taking some getting used to

The yet to be named new addition to our family is doing great.

She is a very lively and charismatic little pup who has already brought so many laughs and smiles to our home.  However, I have a feeling potty training is going to be tough on us.  We take her out at least every 45 minutes, but she isn’t understanding the concept of pottying outside.  Whenever we get her back inside, she decides on our floor or in her kennel is the perfect place to go to the restroom.  Any potty training tips?

I know that this is the first day we have her and it is a long process!

So how did we land this pup?  Well, we were sitting at a bar on campus watching the Gopher game.  I decided to look and see what  puppies that the Humane Society had available today… which lead to us cutting our homecoming celebration short and heading to a locale humane society where we got our rambunctious adorable puppy.  We got there just in time too, there were three families that came in after us looking for ‘Chloe’.

Just a little background.  We were going to get a pug puppy from a breeder actually; that was my ‘secret meeting’ from a few weeks back.  Next weekend we were going to pick the puppy out and then take the puppy home on Halloween.  However, we are happy to report we were able to adopt one and bring her home to a loving ‘family’.

Since we have this little girl running around getting used to her surroundings and chewing on anything and everything, it was definitely an order in night.  That is when we called Papa John.

I had two slices of pizza.  One pepperoni, the other pepperoni, onion and jalapeno.

008

009

I see a bowl of ice cream in my future tonight too.  Have a wonderful Saturday evening bloggies.

Any exciting plans for tomorrow?

***I just had to add this ADORABLE photo of ‘it’…  Even though she poo’s and pees on the floor, how can you not love her?

Puppies all around

Okay folks.  Somebody is playing a very mean trick on me.  The housewarming party we went to this evening had not one, but TWO puppies at it.  I can’t remember the breed that our friends had, but one of their friends brought over their Beagle puppy that is 9 weeks old.

I think this is a sign.  Or at least I am telling Mike that… 😉

images

See, this little guy could easily be named Ernest.  And his face is totally saying ‘Please take me home and love me’.

At the housewarming party, I had some chips and guac, veggies and hummus and a brownie.  My hunger had kicked in.  To drink, I had a Summit Oktoberfest beer, supporting a local brewery!  First fall beer of the season for me.

After the get together, it was time for a quick dinner.  We are meeting our friends at 7:30, so we quickly stopped by Quizno’s on the way home for take-out.  I was adventurous and ordered the Baja Chicken on parmesan bread.  I however, opted out of the bacon.  Twas’ a good sammie.

022

The insides- turkey, cheddar, cilantro, tomato, lettuce and guac.

023

024

I got the chipotle mayo on the side because I am a dipper.  This mayo was bomb.

025

Mike and I also shared a bag of jalapeno chips that I forgot to photo.  But I did take a picture of our dinner view.
020

During dinner, Mike and I were discussing our viewpoints on Subway vs. Quiznos, and how we think Quizno’s is by far the superior restaurant.   Yep, we have really deep and intelligent convos :).  No, don’t get me wrong, I love Subway, but there is something about Quizno’s that gets me.  Maybe they have higher quality ingredients, I don’t know.  What are your thoughts if you have been to both of these joints?

Well it is time for me to go and enjoy a few beers with good friends and bowl.  I am a terrible bowler, so wish me luck!

Unexpected post

Hey peeps. I didn’t think I would be home this early, but I am! I of course am the only one here, Mike is still out; but in the end, probably a good thing!

This afternoon, I did A LOT of snacking. A lot of un-photographed eats, but I did manage to snap a picture of my wrap- a jalapeno wrap with hummus, black beans, feta and spinach. Not too shabby for not having been to the grocery store yet, huh????

Before the ‘wrap’ happened…

006

After:

007

008

And, a few Ritz crackers with Jungle Banana PB with chocolate chips 🙂

009

Annnnd, before we headed to campus. GO GOPHERS!!! You know what’s up 😉

010

I’ll leave the rest of the evening to pictures…. I had a hot dog and french fries because I was starving annnnd a few beers… 😦 Bad blogger?? Nahhh, just having some fun!

New GOPHER STADIUM!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!

017

018

So, I may have a had a beer or two more than usual, but it was a great time! And, it is a lot less than college. Plus, I came home early… LOL, justifications…

Anyway, my long run hunger/munchies are calling me to the kitchen. I need a naner’ toast.

Night all!
